GRAND HAVEN–Grand Haven put up a strong fight against highly-ranked Caledonia, but could not maintain it throughout and lost, 47-12.

Xzavier Rodriguez had two long touchdown passes in the first quarter. The first to William Korenstra for 37 yards and the second to Alex Dixon from 45 yards out. Caledonia, ranked No. 2 in the state in Division 1 by the Associated Press, led the Bucs 14-12 at the end of the first quarter.

It went all wrong from there for Grand Haven as Caledonia rattled off 33 unanswered points.

Rodriguez completed 12-of-27 passing attempts for 165 yards and two touchdowns while throwing one interception. Korenstra was the leading receiver with three receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown. Dixon had one reception for the 45-yard score. Chase Robinson had four catches for 28 yards.

Lance Poole was the leading rusher for the Bucs with three carries for 49 yards.

Defensively for Grand Haven, Dylan Cummings led the way with eight tackles, two for loss. Josh McManus added four tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

Grand Haven (1-6, 0-5) will play at Grandville next Friday.
