KENT CITY –The Kent City volleyball team won the top spot of their own ninth annual “Dig Pink” tournament on Saturday.
This event is a continued effort to raise money for the Sideout Foundation for Breast Cancer Research and Education. The Eagles have raised $4,000 this season and $70,000 overall.
The Eagles flew through the first matches with wins against Orchard View (25-9, 25-14), Calvin Christian (25-17, 25-13) and Holton (25-19, 25-10).
The Eagles continued their roll with a strong win against Tri-County (25-18, 25-8) in the semi-finals.
The finals saw a rematch with Calvin Christian where the Eagles again took them down in two sets for the title (25-13, 25-13).
Lexie Bowers led the day with 39 digs, 24 kills, 17 aces and three blocks.
Jacee Hoffman supported with 82 assists and scored nine aces.
Maddie Geers chipped in 36 kills, eight aces and five blocks, while Susan Joy-Rau added 15 kills, eight aces and six blocks.
Kaden Perkins also got in on the action with 32 digs and seven aces.
Kent City (25-4-2, 7-0) will travel to Chippewa Hills on Tuesday in a CSAA Conference matchup.
