CUSTER — Mason County Eastern turned back visiting Marion, 3-1 in a big Western Michigan D League match at home Monday night.
After the Cardinals opened the night with a 25-14 win in the first set, the Eagles came storming back to win the second set, 25-17.
The two teams engaged in a tight, see-saw affair in the third set with the Cardinals posting a thrilling 28-26 overtime victory before they finished off the Eagles in the fourth set, 25-22.
Lilly Basden finished the match with four tips, three digs, one block and one kill. Deanna Codman had four service aces, six attacks and three kills and 10 digs.
Mackenzie Wright had four aces, five attacks and four digs. Janessa Alvesteffer contributed seven aces, five tips, six attacks and eight digs. Avery Crawford had four attacks, one dig, one kill and one ace.
Adriana Bosley had two tips, four digs, one attack, one ace and one kill. Taylor Campbell had five aces and one kill. Malu Montanher added two digs.
Eastern travels to Pentwater for another WMD match Thursday night.
