GRAND RAPIDS–The Mona Shores boys basketball team came up on the short end of a 71-49 score on Thursday evening.

The Sailors fell to the East Kentwood Falcons in the Red Division championship game of the Cornerstone University Holiday Tournament.

East Kentwood raced out to a 17-8 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The Falcons extended their lead to 34-19 by the halftime break outscoring the Sailors 17-11 in the second quarter.

East Kentwood tacked on another 17 points in the third period while Mona Shores managed to put up 12 points to increase its lead to 20 points with one quarter to play.

Jonathan Pittman led Mona Shores with 15 points. Jordan Bledsoe tossed in 13 points while JT Foster chipped in 10 points.

The Sailors (3-3) will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 3 when they host the Montague Wildcats in non-league action.
