WHITE CLOUD–The Central Montcalm Hornets had too much size for the Indians as they left White Cloud with a 61-38 win.

“After our last game we wanted to see heart and toughness from our girls, and I felt like they did a great job tonight even though the score was not in our favor,” said White Cloud coach Caleb Wilk. “Most nights we are going to be the smaller team, so we need to make up for it with hustle and speed. Unfortunately, Central Montcalm brought too much size tonight, and they dominated the boards,” said  Wilk after the game.

The Hornets opened the game on an 11-0 run and led 16-8 at the end of the first quarter. Some early adjustments allowed for the Indians to stay in the game only trailing 26-19 at halftime. Central Montcalm led 42-32 at the end of the third quarter.

White Cloud was led by Gaby Reeve with 16 points. Jaden Gomez finished in double digits with 10 points as well. Annie Feldpausch contributed 6 points and Kiara Edwards had 4 points.

The Hornets shot 18 of 23 from the line while White Cloud struggled from the charity stripe shooting 9 of 19.

“I’m glad we have a couple of days off before our next game. We need a few days to regroup and get healthy before our last game before break. I am very happy with how hard these girls worked the last couple of days, and I hope we get to play Central Montcalm again later in the season,” Wilk said.

White Cloud (4-2, 1-1) will host Pentwater on Tuesday.
