GRANT–The Newaygo Lions boys basketball team got by the Grant Tigers on Friday evening, 87-67.
 
The Central States Athletic Association battle was played at Grant.
 
Both teams got off to quick starts which saw Newaygo maintain an eight-point lead through three quarters before pulling away in the final eight minutes.
 
Newaygo was led by Josiah Long with 27 points, followed by Bryce Decker with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Caris Nelson scored 17 points, dished out 13 assists and grabbed eight rebounds.
 
Oakley Obenauf led Grant with 22 points. Lucas Swanson tossed 15 points while Gage Cronk chipped in 11.
 
Grant (3-4, 1-2) will host Whitehall on Tuesday evening.
 
Newaygo (5-3, 3-0) will travel to Shelby on Monday evening
