GRAND HAVEN–The Grand Haven Buccaneers held on for a 49-44 win over Holland West Ottawa on Friday evening in a OK Conference-Red matchup contest played at Grand Haven.

Emersen Berndt led Grand Haven with 18 points while Heiid Berkey tossed in 16 points. Maddie Schopf chipped in with 11 points. 

The Panthers got out to a 16-11 lead after the first quarter of action. The Bucs cut into that lead with a 11-7 scoring edge in the second stanza as West Ottawa carried a 23-22 lead into the halftime break.

Both teams put up 10 points apiece in the third period before Grand Haven secured the win with 17-11 fourth quarter advantage.

Gilllian Sorrelle led the Bucs with five assists and six rebounds.  Sorrelle, Grace Harrison and Emersen Berndt all had two steals. 

West Ottawa was led by Gabby Reynolds with a game high 32 points. 

Grand Haven (8-4, 5-2) will host Spring Lake this evening (Saturday) in the “Battle of the Bridge Contest) with game time slated for 6 p.m.
