MUSKEGON – Ashley Folkema was one steal shy of earning a triple-double in Western Michigan Christian’s 54-23 win over Oakridge on Wednesday.

“This was a great team win tonight,” said WMC coach Sarah Koetsier. “We passed the ball well to find open shots tonight.”

The Warriors jumped out to a 29-11 lead at halftime and that set the tone for the game.

Folkema scored 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and snagged nine steals for the Warriors. Kate Derdowski chipped in 17 points and five rebounds, while Maria Eenigenburg had five points, six steals and six rebounds.

“The team worked well together and worked hard on the court,” Koetsier said.

The Eagles’ Anna Lundquist posted a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds. Cambria Guenthardt scored seven points.

WMC (9-4, 3-0) will take a short trip to Muskegon Catholic Central for Alliance League play on Friday.

Oakridge (4-11, 2-7) is set for a WMC-Lakes contest at Whitehall on Friday.
