SCOTTVILLE — Will Chye had a big night for the Mason County Central boys basketball team with 19 points as the Spartans rolled up a 71-29 victory over visiting Hesperia Friday night in the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division.

 
Mason County took a 15-4 lead after the first quarter and outscored the Panthers, 25-6 in the second to build a huge 40-10 halftime lead.
 
Hesperia had a 11-10 edge in the third quarter, but the Spartans headed into the fourth with a big 50-21 advantage.
 
Chye also had eight rebounds and three steals. Kolden Myer scored 11 points and had three steals, while Kaident Cole and Dakota Sterley contributed nine points apiece.
 
Ian Fox scored eight points and Jared Tanner five for the Panthers.
 
The Spartans won their second straight game and improved to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Mason County Central hosts Fremont on Monday in non-conference action.
 
With their fourth straight loss Hesperia fell to 2-9 overall and 1-5 in the conference. The Panthers return to the hardwood Monday night for a non-conference game with Mason County Eastern.
