HOLLAND — The Mona Shores Sailors boys started off the league portion of their basketball schedule in grand fashion on Friday night.

The Sailors went on the road and came home with a 64-50 victory over Holland.

Shores led 14-8 after one quarter and maintained that margin in the second quarter. Shores led 27-21 at the half.

The lead increased to eight in after the third quarter and grew to double digits by game’s end thanks to four solid quarters of play by the Sailors.

Sophomore Johnathan Pittman led the way with 21 points, six rebounds and three steals. Freshman Ryan Oppsommer added 14 points and three steals. Senior captain JT Foster had 14 points, six rebounds and three assists. Chrishawn Chapman had eight points.

Jacob VanHekken led Holland with 24 points.

Mona Shores (4-3, 1-0) hosts Wyoming on Tuesday.
