WYOMING–The defending state champion Wyoming Tri Unity Christian Defenders ran past the Muskegon Catholic Central Crusaders on Tuesday, 64-29, in an Alliance League contest.

The Defenders jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter of action and increased their lead to 35-16 by the half by outscoring Catholic Central 18-7 in the second stanza.

The Tri-Unity Christian defense posted a shutout in the third period while scoring 17 points to take a commanding 52-16 lead into the fourth quarter. Catholic Central held a scoring advantage of 13-12 in the final eight minutes.

The Crusaders turned the ball over 25 times and allowed Tri-Unity 16 first-half points on second chances.

“Tri-Unity is disciplined and a very precise team,” said Muskegon Catholic coach Rob Recknagel. “They force turnovers, had seven players hit a three pointer and rebound exceptionally well on the offensive end.”

Hunter Schrink led Catholic Central with nine points while Jacob Lyonnais tossed in six.

Catholic (5-5, 1-2) will host Kentwood Grand River Prep on Friday evening.
