NORTON SHORES–The Mona Shores Sailors got off to a slow start on Friday evening against Grand Rapids Union in both halves and it cost them dearly in a 67-51 loss.

The OK-Green matchup was played at Mona Shores.

The Sailors found themselves in a hole they couldn’t dig out of by the end of first quarter. Union led 13-4 after one quarter. Mona Shore trailed 25-21 at the half.

The Red Hawks exploded for a 24-10 scoring advantage during the third period to increase their lead to 49-31 after three.

Jordan Bledsoe led Mona Shores with 16 points while Ryan Opsommer tossed in 12 points. Paul Ritter led Mona Shores with nine rebounds.

Mona Shores (4-13, 1-9) will travel to Zeeland West on Tuesday.
