HOLTON — The host Holton Red Devils battled to the bitter end, but the result was a 54-43 loss to White Cloud on Tuesday night.

The loss kept Holton winless on the season.

“We competed hard tonight,” said Holton coach Keith Swanson. “It got away from us a bit in the third quarter, but I was proud of how our guys continued to fight and make things interesting.”

White Cloud led 13-9 after one quarter and 26-16 at the half. A 20-9 scoring advantage in the third quarter put the visitors ahead 46-25 with one quarter remaining.

Mason Ruether led White Cloud with 15 points. Kevin Strait added 12 while Jared Watson and Noah Robinson each had nine.

Carter Brant dumped in 26 points to lead Holton. Brodrick Fialek added 13.

White Cloud (9-6, 5-4) plays at Morley-Stanwood on Friday.
 
Holton (0-15, 0-7) is at Mason County Central on Thursday.
