HESPERIA–It took a quarter for the Hart Pirates offense to get rolling on Tuesday evening, but in the end, they cruised to a 72-22 victory over Hesperia.

The key was a 47-12 scoring advantage in the middle two quarters.

With the win, Hart moves to 21-0 overall and 11-0 in league play with a Thursday game at Holton to close out the regular season.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first quarter as Hart led 12-5 on the strength of 10 point by 6-5 senior Parker Hovey, who finished with 27 points.

Hovey was just warming up as he canned 11 more points in the second quarter. Hart racked up a 22-6 scoring advantage to take a 34-11 lead at the break.

Hart extended their lead to 59-17 at the end of the third quarter. Both teams emptied their benches for the final eight minutes which was played with a running clock.

Besides 27 points, Hovey had 14 rebounds, six blocked shots and five assists. Diego Escamilla scored 11 points. Blake Weirich tossed in nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Wyatt Dean came up with eight steals, seven assists and six rebounds.

Luke Greiner led Hesperia with seven points. Zach Glenn tossed in six points.

Hesperia (4-16, 1-10) will host Mason County Central on Thursday.
