KENT CITY — Abby Pecynski drove in the only run in Game 1 and freshman Lylah Larson earned her first varsity victory on the mound as Kent City swept a softball doubleheader from North Muskegon on Monday, 1-0 and 7-3.

In the opener, Kent City score the game’s only run in the third inning. Jacee Hoffman singled and later scored on Pecynski’s single. Hoffman and Pecynski each had two hits to lead the Eagles. Hoffman was the winning pitcher. She allowed four hits and struck out 12.

In the nightcap, Larson posted the complete-game victory. She allowed five hits and two earned runs. She struck out three.  She also helped her own cause at the plate with two hits and two RBI.

Jade Mortensen had two hits, including a double. The key inning for Kent City was six-run third inning.
