MUSKEGON – The Reeths-Puffer girls soccer team held off Western Michigan Christian 2-1 on Saturday in a nonleague soccer match.
Reeths-Puffer outshot the Warriors, 8-1.
“We demonstrated great passing and continued to experiment with lineups and the girls looked very sharp,” said Rocket coach Kody Harrell.
Sophia Hekkema and Taeah Rensberger each scored a goal for the Rockets. Billie Tryska and Abby Hill earned assists.
“I give a lot of credit to WMC’s goalkeeper,” Harrell said. “She made a couple of big saves including a kick save on a breakaway.”
The Warriors’ Maria Eenigenburg scored the lone goal with an assist from Nadia Burr.
Elaina Clapp stopped nine shots in the net for WMC.
Reeths-Puffer (4-1-1, 2-0) will see OK Conference-Green action on Monday at Wyoming.
WMC (2-3-1, 2-0-1) hosts Muskegon Catholic Central on Tuesday.
