SCOTTVILLE — In a matchup of county rivals, the Mason County Central Spartans earned a 12-10 victory over Ludington on Monday.

Madelyn Kenyon pitched for the Orioles and gave up eight hits and five walks while striking out three.

Kenyon also led the offense going 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple, double and three runs scored. Ayiana Rangel was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

“The girls had a lot of energy all night,” Ludington coach Sierra Holmes said. “We had a rough third inning when Mason County Central took advantage of our mistakes. After that, we settled down. Madelyn really competed well, and none of the runs she gave up were earned. We kept battling to the end and got the tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh.”

Ludington (4-19) travels to Traverse City West for a doubleheader next Thursday.

Mason County Central hosts Holton in the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division on Tuesday.
