SHELBY–Local Sports Journal is excited to announce the addition of local sportswriter Brendan Samuels to its staff as a contributing writer.
Samuels has been writing for publications in some capacity for the past 7 years.
Starting out his career in the college ranks, Samuels was a sportswriter and editor for the student newspaper at Ferris State University from 2016-2020. While there, Samuels was a member of an award-winning staff that covered major events including the NCAA Division II men’s national championship in basketball.
After taking a year off to explore other opportunities, he joined the staff at Oceana’s Herald-Journal in 2021 where he became a staff writer who covered sports for the five schools in Oceana County as well as the surrounding areas.
Samuels was born and raised in Shelby and has a passion for covering sports and finding stories no matter whether the teams he covers are winning or losing. Oceana County has always been his home and he remains committed to giving area athletes the coverage they deserve.
