MUSKEGON HEIGHTS — The Hesperia-Muskegon Heights football game ended after one half on Friday night due to injuries that left the Tigers without enough healthy players.

Hesperia led 22-0 when the game was stopped.

“We were basically down to 12 or 13 kids,” said Heights athletic director Del Stewart. “We had a couple of kids who got some stingers and it didn’t make sense to continue on.

“At this point I am not going to look for an opponent for next week and use the week to recruit kids to play football starting on Monday.”

Hesperia (1-0) will be back in action next Thursday when they travel to St. Louis.

Editor’s Note: In the 2023 Local Sports Journal football preview, some incorrect information was published on Page 20.  In Coach Fehler’s coach profile, it should have read that he is a Fruitport High School graduate and his career record going into the season is 2-7. On the following page, the 2022 results for the last game should have indicated that Hesperia beat Holton 38-0, not Hart defeating Holton.
