High school football is back in the air and it is returning to the airwaves on 98.3 FM this week.

Mike Taylor and Matt Tjapkes will be back on the radio covering Muskegon area football each week for the 2023 season.

The duo’s newest collaboration titled T-n-T Gridiron Productions, will be live at Whitehall on Thursday for the Vikings’ matchup against Hudsonville Unity Christian.

Pregame coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. with kickoff set for 7 p.m. There will also be a 30-minute post-game show focusing on results of teams from around the Muskegon area.

Taylor is a former football coach who aided Bo Schembechler at the University of Michigan and Elliot Uzielac at Western Michigan University. Tjapkes, a 1996 graduate of Western Michigan Christian High School, spent seven years with MSU Sports.

T-n-T Gridiron Productions is a new media collaboration between Taylor and Tjapkes. However, the two have been working together on the air for the past five seasons on WLCS-FM 98.3.

The difference this season is the two are in 100 percent control of the planning and implementation of high school football coverage.

“There was some talk about squashing high school football coverage on the air this season in Muskegon,” said Taylor. “Muskegon area football is unlike anywhere else in Michigan and I was extremely thrilled that CUMLUS offered us the opportunity to purchase the show.”

As area fans listen in this season, they will be able to thank Taylor and Tjapkes for taking a chance on Muskegon area football.

“I have 34 years of coaching under my belt and I can tell you without a doubt, Muskegon is the King of Football in Michigan. To not have coverage for these incredible high school athletes might have been a real tragedy. Thankfully, that will not be the case.”

T-n-T productions will be following all of the Greater Muskegon area football teams throughout the 2023 season. Week 2 is scheduled to feature Mona Shores vs. Rockford.
