SPRING LAKE – The Kent City and Spring Lake volleyball team kicked off the season with a 2-1 finish in a quad match on Wednesday evening.

The Eagles defeated host Spring Lake (25-19, 25-20) and Hesperia (25-10, 25-15), but fell to Fremont in tight matches (23-25, 26-24, 9-15).

The Lakers took down Hesperia (25-12, 25-11) and Fremont (19-25, 25-22, 13-15)

Kaden Perkins had 47 digs and scored three aces while Cailynn Hartzell added 50 assists, seven kills and three aces for the Eagles.

Hannah Stellini chipped in 23 digs, with a pair of aces, and Maddie Geers had 30 kills, 29 digs and a block.

The Lakers’ Kalli Lewkowski had 29 digs and 20 kills while Avery Britt threw in 35 assists and six aces. Brooke Bolthouse had 16 kills and Ella Gapczynski made 10 kills and three blocks.

Kent City and Spring will be back to action on Friday at Wayland for the WMVOA Scholarship Tournament.
