MUSKEGON — The Local Sports Journal is proud to announce it has added another experienced writer to its staff.

Dave Hart, a 2004 graduate of Fruitport High School, has been hired to handle a number of writing tasks for the upcoming prep season.

Hart brings a unique enthusiasm for sports to the LSJ. He is expected to handle prep football until the Muskegon Lumberjacks get rolling here soon.

“I am looking forward to working with the new LSJ crew and giving the best coverage that I can for the teams that I will be assigned to cover,” said Hart, who also has experience covering the West Michigan Ironmen and the Muskegon Clippers in addition to the Lumberjacks.

His sportswriting career began 10 years ago with the LSJ and lasted for 7 years. He moved on to another local media outlet for the last 2 years before rejoining the LSJ this week.

Hart is an avid follower of the Detroit pro teams (Tigers, Red Wings, Lions and Pistons) along with the University of Michigan.”

“Some other interests that I have is reading novels by Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Patterson and John Saul,” said Hart, who also finds time here and there to play sports game on PlayStation.

Hart and his wife, Melissa, tied the knot on June 30, 2021 with a unique ceremony at historic Marsh Field.  They have two children, Ian (15) and Mya (13). They also have a pit bull named Paisley.
