Fans of Muskegon Big Reds athletics now have a long-term home for radio and streaming coverage.

The Big Red Radio Network and 106.1 FM have teamed up on a multi-year partnership to begin with the 2023-24 school year.

Live coverage will include all varsity football games and select boys and girls’ basketball games, including all post season action.

Muskegon, which first fielded a gridiron team in 1895, is the winningest prep football program in Michigan and ranks seventh nationally in all-time victories with 888. With the 129th season of Big Red football now here, the team will seek its 19th state championship and win No. 900.

Fans who want to dial in on M106, but can’t get to their radios can listen on the internet at www.m106fm.com or on the Umoja app.

“I am thrilled to announce the partnership with the esteemed Big Red Radio Network,” said Paul Allen Billings, WUGM general manager.  “This exciting collaboration brings a new level of professional sports broadcasting to our airwaves, delivering the exhilarating Muskegon Big Reds football and basketball games to listeners near and far.”

The new partnership also gives the broadcast teams more freedom to include additional programming content such as coach’s shows, player features and even coverage of other fall, winter and spring sports that have not been traditionally covered in the past.

“This allows fans worldwide to immerse themselves in the action through both radio and online platforms at m106fm.com,” continued Billings. “Get ready to experience the unbeatable excitement and passion of high school sports like never before.”

The new arrangement also combines with Muskegon’s existing live video streaming of all regular season football and home basketball games on their pay-per-view format through Meridix.

The Big Reds football team returns to action on Friday in its Week 2 matchup with Warren De La Salle.

Brian Eacker (color analyst) and Melvin Lane, Jr. (sideline reporter) will be on hand to cover the action.

The games will be aired live at 6 p.m. each week on 106.1 FM and streamed via the station’s website at www.m106fm.com along with access via the Umoja app for all smart devices.
