Fruitport, Spring Lake split matches in volleyball quad in Hamilton

HAMILTON – The Fruitport and Spring Lake volleyball teams both went 1-1 in a quad match on Tuesday evening.

The Trojans fell to host Hamilton (16-25, 26-24, 17-25) but topped Spring Lake in a battle (25-19, 20-25, 25-23, 30-28).

Sadie Haase led the Trojans with 27 kills and three blocks while Gracelynn Olson had 60 assists and 25 digs. Lauren Riedel added 44 digs and four aces. Ashton Olson chipped in 13 kills and Tara Sweet had four aces. 

The Lakers opened with a fierce victory against Hudsonville Unity Christian, 25-23, 15-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-11.

Brooke Bolthouse had 36 digs and 21 kills while Katherine Penning threw in 20 kills and seven blocks. Kara Constantine had 35 digs and 30 assists. Avery Britt had 37 assists and Abigail Weis scored seven aces.

Fruitport will be at home on Thursday against Hamilton.

Spring Lake (13-14-3, 2-4) hosts Hudsonville Unity Christian on Thursday.
