FRUITPORT – Tuesday night’s non-conference volleyball battle between Fruitport Calvary Christian and Hesperia went down to the wire as the Eagles came out with a 3-2 win.

FCC got off to a good start, closing out the first set with a close 25-22 win before falling 25-19 to the Panthers in set two. The back and forth continued the rest of the night as the Eagles won the third set by a lopsided 25-14 score before taking a large deficit loss 25-13 in the fourth.

That brought the night into a fifth and final set that pushed into extra points. FCC was able to close out the overall win with a 16-14 win in that period.

Ella Dykman led the Eagles with 25 kills, 6 digs, three blocks and an ace. Sarah Deuby had a solid night with five kills and 13 digs, while Marissa Tyler chipped in 36 assists, 11 digs and an ace.

FCC moved their overall record to 8-6 and will be on the road Thursday for a meeting with Wellspring Prep.

Hesperia fell to 1-7 on the year and will have another non-conference match next Tuesday at Spring Lake.
