SPRING LAKE – The Greater Muskegon co-op swim and dive team battled injuries and sickness in a loss to Spring Lake on Tuesday.

The Turtles fell to the Lakers, 125-68.

“It was nice to see Team battle through things and fight on,” said Turtles coach Mick Homan. “It was also good to see swimmers come within .02 seconds of personal records and drop almost 20 seconds in race and relays season best times.”

“In a tough meet and season, it is nice to celebrate the small wins.”

The 200-medley relay team of Sophia Zziwambazza, Susie VanBaale, Marilyn Gaston and Sydney Sytsema took second place (2:05.35) while Gaston, Eva Stout, Maria Eenigenburg and Sytsema took second in the 200 free relay.

Isabella DeJonge, Stout, Eenigenburg, and VanBaale finished third in the 400-free relay (4:40.51).

Stout earned second-place finishes in the 200 free (2:21.31) and the 100 fly (1:11.14). VanBaale was second in the 100 breast (1:15.86) and third in the 200IM (2:43.42).

Sytsema swam to a second-place spot in the 50 free (27.42) and 100 free (1:01.74). Hollen Emmick posted a second-place finish in dives with 165.80 points and Millie Currow was second in the 500 free (6:23.83). Eenigenburg was third in the 100 free (1:05.33) and Zziwambazza finished in third place in the 100 back (1:17.89). 

The Turtles travel to Grand Rapids Catholic Central on Tuesday.
