MUSKEGON – Why put the ball in the air when your rushing game is doing just fine?

Such was the case for the host Muskegon Catholic Crusaders, which put the ball in the air just four times in a 27-7 victory over Kalamazoo United on Friday night.

Instead, quarterback Bryan Convertini carried the ball 24 times for 161 yards and three touchdowns in the MCC victory. Henry Rosema, who scored MCC’s final touchdown on a 48-yard run, finished with 15 carries for 115 yards.  For the game, the Crusaders rushed 40 times for 278 yards.

Convertini scored in the opening quarter on a 22-yard run and another in the second on a 32-yard run. In the final quarter, Convertini scored on an 18-yard run, followed by Rosema’s rushing TD.

Easton Cook was stellar on the Crusader defense with 14 tackles. Jake Westhoff finished with eight.

Muskegon Catholic (2-2) hosts Orchard View next week.
