BIG RAPIDS–The Newaygo Lions were no match for the Big Rapids Cardinals on Friday evening in a 42-14 Central State Activities Association (CSAA) loss.

The Cardinals racked up 407 yards in total offense with 320 of those yards comingon the ground. 

On the defensive side of the ball, Big Rapids forced two fumbles and turned them into touchdowns.

Big Rapids scored early and often, jumping out to a 35-0 lead before Newaygo got on the board with a 90-yard kickoff return. The Lions also scored on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Blake Kerr to Isaiah Lopez.

Newaygo (0-2, 0-1) will host Morley-Stanwood next Friday in a CSAA battle.
