FRUITPORT – The Fruitport boys soccer team has been playing some solid soccer of late.
That was true on Thursday night as the Trojans opened the Division 2 district tournament with an 8-0 victory over the Muskegon Big Reds.
Taylen Acocks and Jorge Burgos Yack led the way with a pair of goals apiece. Isaac Vandermolen, Brady Brown, Sam Krueger and Jyles Smith each chipped in a goal.
Goalkeeper Logan Werschem continued his hot streak with a 10th consecutive shutout and his 12th on the season.
Fruitport (15-2-3) is set to match up with rival Spring Lake on Thursday, Oct. 19. The district semifinal round will be at Northview High School.
Muskegon closed out the season 0-19.
