GRAND HAVEN – The Grand Haven volleyball team clinched its 17th consecutive Division 1 district title on Thursday.

With the win, the Bucs have won 21 titles in 22 years.

The Bucs came out on top in a battle with Mona Shores, 25-22, 25-19, 25-27 and 25-14.

Izzy Whittaker led the Bucs with 24 kills, 13 digs and an ace, while Mallory Woiteshek had 18 kills, nine digs and two aces. Sara Weber added 42 assists, 15 digs and two aces. Taylor Smaka chipped in 20 digs and an ace.

The Sailors’ Kyann Hellmann had 31 assists, 11 digs, three kills and a block. Izzy Sturtevant made 21 digs, while Grace Allen had nine kills. Jersey VanderWall and Maddie Russell each had eight kills.

Mona Shores closed the season with a record of 38-6.
