Jaxson Whitaker eclipses 1,000-point mark in Reeths-Puffer victory over Holland West Ottawa

HOLLAND – Reeths-Puffer standout Jaxson Whitaker scored 15 points on Tuesday night and, in the process, surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career.

That effort helped lead the Rockets to a 78-71 victory over Holland West Ottawa.

Reeths-Puffer led 18-6 after one quarter and 31-26 at the half. West Ottawa stormed back in the third quarter and took a 49-47 lead.

However, the Rockets used a 15-0 surge in the final quarter to gain the seven-point victory.

Marvin Moore led Reeths-Puffer (3-0) with 24 points. Travis Ambrose added 22. Whitaker had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Braydon Mitchelson had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Reeths-Puffer hosts Hudsonville on Friday.
