GRAND RAPIDS – The Muskegon Community College wrestling team had a tough time in the Blithe Memorial Duals at Cornerstone University over the weekend.

The Jayhawks were 0-5 but still managed some individual wins against tough competition.

“It has been a tough road the last few weeks wrestling nothing but 4-year schools,” said MCC coach Cody Carpenter. “But I couldn’t be prouder of the way these guys went to battle this weekend.”

The tournament was highlighted by wins from Ryan Reno at 165 pounds, Rice Robins at 174 pounds, Matt Beck at 184 pounds and Caleb O’Neal at heavyweight.

“Win or lose they were tough and gritty in their matches,” Carpenter said. “It was a fun day of wrestling.”

Muskegon Community College will be back in action Saturday as they travel to Illinois for the Art Kraft Memorial Open at Triton College.
