The Muskegon Community College softball team kicked its softball season on Monday with one victory and one loss.
 
In the opener, the Lady Jayhawks dropped a 6-5 decision to Macomb, but came back in the nightcap and defeated John Melvin University 4-1.
 
In the opener, the Jayhawks surrendered the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning.
 
Lilli Goodrich pitched seven innings and allowed six runs, five earned, five hits and three walks. She struck out two. She also helped her cause at the plate with three hits. Ileana Hatcher had a hit and knocked in two runs. Andrea Romero had a hit, scored a run and knocked in a run.
 
In the nightcap against John Melvin University, Brooklyn Galdeen was the winning pitcher. She allowed one unearned run, six hits and two walks. She struck out three. At the plate, she had a triple.
 
Jasmine Pastoor had two hits, knocked in two runs and scored one run. Willo Staal had two hits, including a triple and Olive Staal had a hit and an RBI.
