MUSKEGON – The Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks are building some momentum after Saturday’s game on Saturday.

The Lady Jayhawks handed the Southwest Michigan Roadrunners their first loss of the season, 64-59, at Bartels-Rode Gymnasium.  The Jayhawks once again used a balanced scoring attack, led by Ty’veonna Davis with 27 points, to take down the Roadrunners.

“What a win for us today,” said Jayhawk coach Jason Cooper. “The effort we displayed against a very good team this afternoon was amazing. Very proud of our team and program today.”

MCC (5-2) led 24-21 after one quarter and 34-31 at the half. In the second half, the game remained close throughout with the Jayhawks pulling out the five-point victory. The Roadrunners had scored 100-plus points in three other games this season and had won seven of its eight games by a minimum of 20 points.

Davis also added 15 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Arrionna Williams added 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Ali Phillips hit 14 points, five rebounds and three assists. McKena Wilson added 13 points.

 The Jayhawks will travel to Calvin College to play the JV team on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 6:00 pm.
