PENTWATER – Pentwater’s boys basketball team made it three straight wins to start the year as they downed Marion 48-33 on Friday.

The Falcons started the night strong on defense, holding Marion to just eight points in the first quarter. Unfortunately, points weren’t coming so easily for Pentwater as they only scored six of their own to trail by a bucket after one quarter.

That changed quickly as Pentwater poured in 14 during the second quarter, and limited the Eagles to just four points for a 20-12 halftime lead. Their momentum carried into the second half with the Falcons extending their lead to 32-19 by the end of the third quarter.

A trio of Falcons led the way in scoring as Will Werkema-Grondsma, Trey Johnson and Mikey Carlson each scored 11 points. Werkema-Grondsma added 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals as well. Jonny Arnouts had nine points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Pentwater starts their year off at 3-0 with all three wins coming over West Michigan D League opponents. The Falcons will look to stay unbeaten on Monday when they host Fruitport Calvary Christian.
