HART – A stellar night for Hart senior Blake Weirich didn’t translate into a win for the Pirates as they dropped their third straight game in a 57-54 contest with Grant on Tuesday.
Weirich led Hart’s boys in points on the evening with 28, his second game in a row achieving double figures in that category. Weirich also added 11 rebounds to make it a double-double outing.
The Pirates trailed the Tigers early as it was three points that separated the teams the majority of the night. Grant carried a 17-14 lead after the first quarter before Hart jumped in front 27-24 at half. The Tigers regained the lead at the close of the third and held on to the victory thanks to some clutch free throws after Hart trimmed their lead to just a single point.
Hart’s Caleb Ackley had a solid performance, adding 13 points and seven rebounds to the stat sheet. Junior Ty Schlukebir added nine points.
Hart (1-3; 1-0 WMC Rivers) will look to better their overall record on Friday when they travel next door for a rivalry meeting with Shelby (1-1).
