HOWARD CITY – Strong performances by Chaz Miller and Gavin Richards helped carry the Fremont boys’ basketball team to a solid 68-42 victory over Tri-County.

Miller led the way with 16 points, six steals and three assists, while Richards bagged a double-double of 12 points, 13 rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

“We were able to get out in transition and did a good job of attacking when we had opportunities,” said Packers’ coach Adam Bowen. “We had good balance on offense and I thought we were solid defensively.”

Will DeBlake followed with 15 points, five rebounds and two steals. Ben Mellema chipped in 12 points.

“We have played much better the last two games and I think we are starting to gain some confidence,” said Bowen.

Fremont (3-6, 0-3) will look for its first WMC-Lakes victory on Friday as they host Montague.
