PORT HURON – Rice Robins knocked off the top-seeded wrestler from Southwest Michigan College to claim an MCCAA title at 174 pounds on Saturday.

“Rice has been wrestling well and we all had a good feeling about him taking this crown home,” said Jayhawks coach Cody Carpenter. “This gives him some momentum as we start to move deeper into the post-season.”

The Jayhawks ultimately closed out the day with a fourth-place finish.

Joe Perez (133), Parker Holt (165) and Hunter Leonard came in third place, while Ryan Reno (157) added a fourth-place finish.

Muskegon Community College will host the Jayhawk Open on Sunday, Feb. 4.
