MARTIN – The Western Michigan Christian boys basketball team shook off a slow first quarter and topped Martin, 63-31, on Tuesday night.

Both teams came out strong on defense and were held to single digits after the first quarter, 8-6. The Warriors found a spark and opened up the scoring as their lead grew to 16 points at halftime, 32-14.

The Warriors continued to build and maintain their lead to run away with the win.

Eli Malek led all scorers with 16 points and Derrick Ashley put up 12 points, including multiple slam dunks. Ben Visser and Caleb Tejchma each added seven points.

WMC (5-6, 1-0) will travel to Grand Rapids Wellspring Prep on Friday for an Alliance League matchup.
