HART – In front of their home crowd, Hart’s girls basketball team secured the WMC Rivers title with a convincing 79-24 win over Holton on Friday.

The Pirates moved the ball with ease, finding open teammates the entire night. Holton’s zone defense was stretched early, allowing Hart to find holes and earn high percentage shots. At the end of the first quarter, Hart led 25-1 and increased their advantage to 36-12 by halftime.

Hart’s freshmen were heavily involved as Rilynn Porter finished with a game-high 23 points and Reese Smith followed up with 14 points and three assists. Addi Hovey posted a double-double with 13 points, 15 rebounds, five steals and five assists while Abby Hicks had 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

The Pirates (15-5, 11-0 WMC Rivers), will finish the conference schedule on Tuesday with a home meeting against rival Shelby.

Holton (12-9, 5-6 WMC Rivers) have one game left on their regular season schedule as they host Ravenna on Tuesday.
