PENTWATER — Pentwater’s girls basketball team hosted West Michigan D League foe Baldwin Thursday night in the regular season finale and came away with a 42-34 win.

“I felt we got the looks we wanted all night long, but just couldn’t make the majority of them,” said Falcons coach Joe Gorton. “We had plenty of opportunities to put the game away, but Baldwin kept fighting all night long.”

But the Falcons managed to keep the Panthers at arm’s length all night, starting with a 17-11 first quarter and 25-14 halftime lead. It was 35-24 after three.

Mandi Sayles was the Falcons leading scorer with nine points, Aubrey Adams finished with seven and Mackenna Hasil and Charlie Swanger added six apiece.

Sayles and Swanger also cleared 10 rebounds each. Hasil contributed five assists and Swanger came away with six steals.

The Falcons bumped their record up to 14-6 and they finished the league season 11-6. Pentwater meets Baldwin again in the districts at Mason County Eastern on Monday.
