How did Local Sports Journal come up with the name of this year’s track and field award?

John Swinburne is a retired coach and educator from the Muskegon-area who has had a lasting impact on thousands of student-athletes and people.

Swinburne has been battling a series of health issues for many years, but he continues to battle. The coach has changed countless lives by the force of his example as one who serves others and by challenging his athletes to run limit-defying races and live limit-defying lives in a spirit not of arrogance and hubris, but of gratitude.
