MANISTEE — A total team effort by the Pentwater boys’ basketball team produced a 64-31 victory over Manistee Catholic Central on Thursday night.

The game was played in the West Michigan D League.

It was important for the Falcons to perform at peak level with the district tournament just a couple weeks away, and a solid effort certainly was welcome. Many teams are battling illness, and the Falcons are no different.

Pentwater were consistent, hitting for double figures in each of the four quarters, and that’s something Falcons coach Ashley Lubera was most happy about.

Mikey Carlson had a huge game for the Falcons, scoring a game-high 27 points, hauling down eight rebounds and coming away with two steals. Trey Johnson had a solid game with 12 points and seven rebounds with five assists and three steals. Also stepping up with a big game for Pentwater was Nathan Macher with 11 points, including three 3-point buckets. Jonny Arnouts contributed eight points and five assists, while Tyler Douglas added six points.

Pentwater improved its record to 14-5 overall and 13-2 in the league. The Falcons host Mason County Eastern on Tuesday night.
