The Western Michigan Christian girls’ basketball squad battled on Tuesday night, but Saugatuck pulled away late for a 60-40 victory.

The Warriors trailed 11-6 at the end of the first quarter, 22-17 at halftime and 40-33 going into the fourth stanza.

“We played a great competitive game tonight,” said WMC coach Sarah Koetsier.  “The final score does not reflect how close this game was.  We were within 5-6 points of Saugatuck until the fourth quarter.  I am proud of how hard we played tonight.”

Ashley Folkema led the Warriors with 13 points and four rebounds.  Emersyn Paling and Kirsten VanOrman added nine and eight points, respectively. Maria Eenigenburg pulled down nine rebounds for WMC.
