NORTON SHORES – The Western Michigan Christian girls’ basketball team put away Byron Center Zion Christian, 54-31, on Tuesday night.

The Warriors were in front 22-8 at the half. Though Zion Christian kept up in the third quarter, the Warriors threw up four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

“Tonight was a competitive game and Zion Christian played strong defense,” said WMC coach Sarah Koetsier. “We played a great team game tonight and passed the ball well. I am proud of our effort tonight.”

Kate Derdowski led WMC with 21 points and three assists. Ashley Folkema chipped in a double-double of 11 points, 12 steals and seven rebounds, while Kasey Folkema had eight points and six rebounds.

WMC (11-4, 4-0) will host Wyoming Lee in Alliance League play on Friday.
