MUSKEGON – The Muskegon Community College women’s softball team reached the .500 mark on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Bay Community College on Thursday.
 
The Jayhawks won the opener, 9-1, in six innings and the nightcap, 9-1, in five innings.
 
In the first game, Hannah Aldred pitched six innings and allowed one run on four hits. She struck out four.
 
Leading the hitting was Willo Staal with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Her hits included a home run and two doubles. Andrea Romero also belted a home run. She had two hits, two RBI and scored two runs. Illeana Hatcher also had two hits, one a home run.
 
In the nightcap, Brooklyn Galdeen swung the big bat for the Jayhawks with a home run, five RBI and two runs scored. Staal, Hatcher and Lilli Goodrich each had a hit. Goodrich had two RBI.
 
MCC is now 7-7 on the season and hosts Bay Community College at 2 p.m. Friday.
