HOLLAND – The Spring Lake boys swimming team claimed an eighth-place finish in the Division 3 state meet on Saturday.

The Lakers posted six personal record swims and finished eight places higher than last year’s meet.

“First and foremost, I am very proud of these nine young gentlemen with their hard work and dedication to get to the state finals,” said Spring Lake coach Mick Homan. “The scoreboard doesn’t show the sportsmanship, teamwork, and great character these young men showed this weekend and over the season.”

The 200 free relay team of Noah Fletcher, Kyle Eacker, Ryan Fisher and Johnny Wachter finished runner-up (1:26.77) and earned All-State honors.

Wachter also earned state honors with a fourth-place finish in the 50 free (21.24) and a sixth-place finish in the 100 fly (51.00). Fletcher, Fisher, Nathan Navarre and Wachter grabbed honors in the 200-medley relay (1:39.39) with a seventh-place spot.

“It has been a pleasure and an honor to be alongside with Brian Porter coaching these young men towards their goals and seeing this success along the way,” Homan said.

Manistee claimed 16th place with 45 points and Ludington was 29th with five points.
