REED CITY – The Hart girls soccer team handed Reed City its first loss on Friday night by the score of 4-2.

“The game did not start super well for us as keeper Emma Jeffries took a knee to the head and had to come out for assessment,” said Hart coach Joe Gilbert. “However, Rhylly Brown bravely threw on her keeper jersey and gloves to step in.

The Pirates were down 2-1 at halftime with the lone goal coming from Addison Kokx off of an assist by Devyn Adams.

In the second half, the Pirates came out with renewed energy and took control of the game.

“We were not happy with the scoreline and how they had dominated the first half,” said Gilbert.

The Pirates only allowed one shot for the entire second half. Lilli Mena, Brianna Arjona and Sydney Goodrich each scored a goal.

Hart (2-1) will compete at the Comet Cup in McBain on Saturday.
