The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks’ softball team captured a sweep of a doubleheader on Monday.

MCC, which swept Mid Michigan Community College on Sunday, came back on Tuesday and did the same thing for the Cornerstone University jayvee team. Muskegon CC won the opener, 10-6, and earned an 11-7 victory in the second game.

In the opener, Illeana Hatcher and Willo Staal paced the offensive attack with three hits each. Hatcher had a double and an RBI as well as scored two runs. Staal belted a home run, knocked in three runs and scored twice. Jasmine Pastor had a pair of hits and a pair of RBI. Rachel Romero had two RBI.

Winning pitcher Hannah Aldred added a triple and an RBI at the plate. On the mound, she pitched seven innings and allowed four runs on seven hits. She had three strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Hatcher cranked out a grand slam home run to lead the way. Pastor had three hits, one a double. Willo Staal had a pair of doubles and scored twice. Andrea Romero added two hits, including a double.

Goodrich pitched the final 3.1 innings and allowed two runs on four hits.

The Jayhawks (14-8) play at Grand Rapids Community College at 2 p.m. Friday.
