It wasn’t the best of days for the Spring Lake Laker softball team, which suffered a pair of losses to state-ranked Hudsonville Unity Christian.

In the opener, the Crusaders won 15-2 in four innings and came back in the nightcap and won, 18-1.

In the first game, Unity broke open the game with 11 runs in the second inning. Tessa Rose and Alexa Carter each had two hits for Spring Lake, which committed five errors in the game.

In the nightcap, Unity led 8-0 after four innings, but plated 10 more runs in the top of the seventh.

Tessa Britt belted a home run for Spring Lake. Rose added two hits.  Spring Lake finished with five hits in the game.
